East Haddam Upended by Waikiki, 6-3
|
No one was more impactful than Carlos Jimenez in the 6-3 Waikiki win over East Haddam. Jimenez, who finished 2nd in the FL in slugging percentage with .524 in 2041, went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Alfredo Barahona, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 0.1 innings. Danny Dudley recorded the save, his 5th.
Jimenez had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 2-2 sinker from Justin Madsen, he banged a grand slam home run to right, giving the Wayfinders a 6-2 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Jimenez.
"It was a team effort and I thought the guys had a good plan and approach," said Jimenez after the game.
After today's action, Waikiki sits at 13-25, while East Haddam falls to 15-24.
