Arizona Squanders Big Game by Potgeter
Though he had a terrific game, Ben Potgeter could not prevent his team, the Arizona Desert Storm, from absorbing a loss. Los Angeles won the game, 11-5. Potgeter went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Jeremy Valentine got the win, improving to 10-9. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 6 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 3. The second-place Kings hiked their record to 55-56.

In the bottom of the second inning, designated hitter Mario Gonzalez had a 2-run home run for Los Angeles. It was his 7th home run of the season and put the Kings on top, 2-1.

"The boys came out and just played their butts off," said Los Angeles manager Jim KP.
