Pizzas Shut Out Aztecs, 2-0
|
Kevin Lowe was in top form in a low-scoring contest between Detroit and San Antonio. The Pizzas right-hander helped his team beat the Aztecs, 2-0. In 6.1 innings, Lowe surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. The save went to Josh Cooper, his 5th this season.
The outcome was still in doubt with two out in the top of the fifth inning, but Lowe was able to pitch out of a jam. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and San Antonio trailing 1-0, Lowe retired Carlos Cantavalle, who struck out.
With the win, Detroit goes to 22-15, while the Aztecs fall to 13-25.
