Gleghorn Leads Buffalo to Win
|
The Buffalo Buffalo beat the Havana Sugar Kings, 6-5, at The Greenhouse. The Buffalo got a fine performance from left fielder Sam Gleghorn, who went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Noah Powell picked up his 28th save of the season. The last-place Sugar Kings dropped to 46-58.
Omar Gallegos had a big 3-run home run for the Buffalo in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Buffalo trailing 5-3 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from Zack Alvarez, who is tied for 8th in the AL in complete games with 1, and swatted a home run to left. It was his 8th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Buffalo ahead, 6-5.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Buffalo manager Jim Punk42ae.
