The Saskatchewan 92's got a sterling performance from pitcher Ronaldo Sardinha, but the Havana Sugar Kings still prevailed, 3-2. Sardinha threw 7.2 innings allowing 3 runs. Ivan Ceballo, who is a two-time All-Star, was the winner in relief. His record is now 5-4. The losing pitcher was Ronaldo Sardinha. Andy Buhrke recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 19 for 24.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Sugar Kings had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when shortstop Edwin Luna hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Ronaldo Sardinha and made the score 3-2, Sugar Kings. Luna went 2-3 with 2 singles.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Luna said.
Havana occupies last place in the Alliance League Boneheads Division at 47-57.
