Hyenas Send Detroit Home with 4-3 Loss
|
Detroit got a decent performance from pitcher Brad Riddick, but it wasn't enough to beat the East Haddam Hyenas. East Haddam won the Ballpark of East Haddam contest, 4-3. Riddick threw 5.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Efrain Sanchez, the winning pitcher, is now 1-1. He went 5.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits, while fanning 5 and walking 3. Edgar Hernandez wrapped it up, recording his 1st save.
The Hyenas got a big at-bat from shortstop Ben Dean. For the game, Dean went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 12th home run of the season gave East Haddam a 3-2 lead.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Dean.
The Hyenas go to 40-64 with the win.
