Starting pitcher Ron Cook was a major factor in the 2-1 Arizona Desert Storm triumph over the Yellowstone Super Volcano. Cook, the winner, moves to 8-10. He threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 9 and giving up 3 walks. Terry Donohue collected save number 19.

Arizona used a well-timed hit by Joe Gainey to capture the win. The shortstop socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Desert Storm ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

Cook attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
