Buffalo Get Hard-Earned Win
|
The Buffalo Buffalo beat the Portland Beavers, 6-5, at The Greenhouse. The win was due in part to right fielder Matt Kohlhepp, who slugged 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Randy Nelson, now 4-2, was credited with the win in 1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 2 and walking 0. The triumph puts Buffalo at 19-19 for the season.
The decisive blow was delivered by Bobby Rigling in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run double off four-time All-Star Andy Buhrke to win the game for Buffalo. The home crowd went nuts.
Kohlhepp said this kind of win gives the team "a buzz."
