Desert Storm Get One-Run Win at Brooklyn
|
The Brooklyn Knights could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Luis Lezama into a win. Instead, the Arizona Desert Storm prevailed, 4-3. Lezama threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The winning pitcher was Ron Cook. He's now 3-0. He went 7.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 9 hits for the Desert Storm. Earning his 23rd save of the year was Andy Buhrke.
Arizona used a clutch at-bat from Eddie Garcia to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Desert Storm ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
Arizona manager GM PerryPHX commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."
At 50-53, the Desert Storm are currently second in the Federation League Knuckleheads Division.
