Kyiv Makes Lansing 3-0 Losers
|
The Kyiv Cossacks went home winners at Ballpark of Atlanta, thanks in large part to starter Mark Powers. Powers stifled the Lansing Red Storm, enabling Kyiv to grab the 3-0 win. Kyiv, at 48-55, sits in third place in the Federation League Knuckleheads Division.
Mike Bitzer, who finished 2nd in the AL in wins above replacement with 6.7 in 2044, had a direct impact on the outcome. Bitzer contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the seventh inning to put Kyiv up, 2-0.
"You can't take yourself too seriously," Powers told the Kyiv Bulletin. "But at the end of the day, we do play to win ballgames."
