The Havana Sugar Kings picked up a win at The Greenhouse, knocking off the Buffalo Buffalo, 3-2. Starting pitcher Nick Rennie played a key role in the triumph. Rennie, now 11-4, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. Chad Edwards, who finished 4th in the AL in ERA with 3.27 in 2048, nailed down the save.
Jay Wesner, who is tied for 4th in the AL in triples with 3, contributed to the Havana win with a solo home run in the top of the fifth. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 run batted in.
"We had the right guys up at the right times," said Buffalo manager Jim Punk42ae. "We just didn't cash in."
The second-place Buffalo have lost 4 consecutive games.
