Chicks Lose By a Run at Sudbury, 4-3
|
Starting pitcher Kelly Halfyard pitched well enough to help the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs beat the Memphis Chicks, 4-3. Halfyard went 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 8. His record improves to 3-1. With the win, the Blueberry Bulldogs have a record of 20-15.
The Blueberry Bulldogs got an important contribution from second baseman Andy Neufeld, who in the bottom of the third hit a 2-1 curveball into left for a 2-run double. It was his 10th double of the season and put the Blueberry Bulldogs ahead, 4-1.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Memphis manager John Griffin said following the tough loss.
