|
The Dublin Porters saddled the Havana Sugar Kings with a loss at Porters Ballpark. The final score was 5-2. Peter Thompson was 4 for 4, including 3 singles and 1 home run. The Dublin third baseman scored 1 run and drove in 2. Dublin pitcher Eddie Lomeli earned the win, hiking his record to 1-0. Fernando Moreno suffered the loss. Zion Anthony earned the save for Dublin, his 9th.
Thompson contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Dublin in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Thompson took a cutter from Fernando Moreno and stroked the home run to right. His 7th home run of the season allowed the Porters to leap in front, 2-1.
In comments to the Dublin Bulletin, Thompson admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
Dublin is now 23-12, Havana 14-21.
