The Kyiv Cossacks locked up a win at Kyiv Grounds, knocking off the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs, 6-3. On the mound for Kyiv was left-hander Bill Williams. He played a major role in the triumph. Jimmy Gold got the save, the 2nd for him this season. Kyiv now sits at 16-18, while Sudbury falls to 16-17.

The Cossacks got a big at-bat from designated hitter William Melnick. For the game, Melnick went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Kyiv a 3-1 lead.

Said Kyiv manager Boris Lahutin: "At the end of the day, these guys have to perform between the lines, and I think they did."
