Sugar Kings Lose to Takoyaki in Walk-Off
|
The Havana Sugar Kings wasted an impressive 8.2-inning effort from starter Eric McKinney, falling, 2-1, to the Osaka Takoyaki in 10 innings at Takoyaki Park. Osaka reliever Matt Schille snagged the win, upping his record to 2-2. John Charles shouldered the loss. The Takoyaki, at 44-58, inhabit third place in the Federation League Birdbrains Division.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Osaka shortstop Robert Escobedo, facing John Charles, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Takoyaki the 2-1 win.
"This place went bonkers at the end," Escobedo said.
