Runs were plentiful at Desert Storm Stadium.

The Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs had to overcome a big game from Arizona second baseman Alex Fernandez to leave Desert Storm Stadium with a victory. And they did, winning, 11-9. Fernandez was 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 6 runs and scored once. The save went to Dave Nevarez, his 1st this season.

Josh Freeland, who finished 2nd in the FL in innings pitched with 239.1 last year, took Arizona hurler Alejandro Lamas deep in the top of the eighth. His grand slam home run put the Blueberry Bulldogs on top, 11-9. In all, Freeland had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Freeland. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."

Arizona now has a record of 11-20.
