The inspired effort of Arizona first baseman Justin Trovato was not enough to prevent a loss, 9-5, to the Kyiv Cossacks. Trovato went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 times. Mark Powers was the winner. He's now 13-2. The loser was 28-year old left-handed pitcher Mario Martinez. Cheong-won Hwang earned the save for Kyiv, his 21st.

Alberto Salinas came through with a big-time hit for Kyiv. The shortstop smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 4-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Salinas.

The Federation League Knuckleheads Division-leading Cossacks are 60-40.
