Kings Come Up Short at Havana, 3-2
|
Starting pitcher Fedya Nosov gave the Havana Sugar Kings a rock-solid performance, helping his team defeat the Los Angeles Kings, 3-2, at Sugardome II. Nosov picked up the win for Havana, going 7.2 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 3-2. Chad Edwards, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 9th save.
The Kings had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Sugar Kings going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 29-year old first baseman Justin Trovato came to the plate. Trovato hit a run-scoring double on a 1-0 fastball from Los Angeles hurler Jon Avery. It was Trovato's 6th double of the year.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Trovato.
With the loss, Los Angeles drops to 17-14.
