Great Stroke: Freese Gets 5 Hits
|
It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Matt Freese of the Havana Sugar Kings. Freese went on a tear at Sugardome II and cracked hit after hit off Kyiv pitching. When the dust settled on the diamond, the 31-year-old first baseman had a career 5-for-5 day and something he will long remember.
"Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but I don't think I'll tell them we lost," he joked in the BNN postgame interview.
Despite Freese's personal accolades, the Kyiv Cossacks walked off the field with the 4-3 win.
Matt Freese singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
Looking at his stats this year, Freese has compiled a .278 batting average, while hitting 4 home runs and driving in 15 runs. He has played in 43 games and scored 20 runs.
