Brooklyn Wins, Deere 3-for-4
|
The 6-5 Brooklyn win over East Haddam was due in large part to Josh Deere. The Knights designated hitter was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Brooklyn's record now stands at 46-52, placing them last in the Alliance League Boneheads Division.
Deere had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a 0-1 cutter from Steve Ashcraft, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Knights a 5-3 lead. It was the 21st home run of the year for Deere.
"We ground out the win," said Deere. "That's all that matters."
