Extra-Inning Win by Beavers Over Pizzas
The Portland Beavers defeated the Detroit Pizzas, 5-2, in 10 innings in Alliance League action at Pizzas Ballpark. Portland pitcher Victor Velasco had a standout performance. The winner was Portland reliever Miguel Romero, now 5-7. The loser was George Liston. Andy Buhrke got the save, the 21st for him this season.

Portland used a timely hit from Luke Spradley to get the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Beavers ahead, 3-2. It might've been his only hit, but it did the trick.

"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Spradley, "one at-bat at a time."

With the victory, the Beavers record stands at 50-47.
