The Portland Beavers had to overcome a big game from Detroit third baseman John Herndon to leave Pizzas Ballpark with a victory. And they did, winning, 6-3. Herndon hit 2 home runs. The Beavers now have a record of 49-47.

Sergio Garced helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a run-scoring single to give Portland a 1-0 lead.

"I'm proud to wear a Portland jersey," Garced told the Portland Times. "We played a good game and came out with the win. What more can you ask for?"
