With left fielder Rod Garcia leading the charge, the Kyiv Cossacks defeated the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs, 5-3, at Kyiv Grounds. Garcia, who is tied for 6th in the FL with a .528 slugging percentage, was 3 for 4 with a triple and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Zachery DeShields got credit for the win, improving to 10-4. He allowed 3 runs on 4 hits in 6.2 innings. Cheong-won Hwang earned his 19th save in 21 chances.

Kyiv grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when Garcia hit a 2-run triple off Brett Richardson. His 2nd triple of the season put the Cossacks out in front, 2-0.

"Our goal is to improve each and every day," Garcia told the Kyiv Observer.

The Cossacks now have a record of 56-38 with the win over Sudbury.
