Hyenas 3-0 Winners Versus Waikiki
|
In a low-scoring contest between the East Haddam Hyenas and the Waikiki Wayfinders, Einar Galindo, who is tied for 5th in the FL in quality starts with 12, proved to be the difference. The East Haddam right-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-0 Hyenas win. Galindo, now 10-4, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 11, walking 1, and allowing no runs. John Motz was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 17 of 22 save opportunities.
East Haddam center fielder Dave Bland contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a changeup to right field for a 2-run single. It was his 70th hit of the season and put the Hyenas ahead, 3-0.
"Einar was outstanding," said East Haddam manager Joe Jankowski.
Waikiki has now lost 12 consecutive games.
