Justin Kowalick, who finished 5th in the AL in ERA with 3.49 in 2048, was locked in. The right-hander led the Yellowstone Super Volcano to a 5-2 win against the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs at Volcano Ballpark. In 7 innings, Kowalick surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. Andres Ramirez earned the save for Yellowstone, his 5th.
With one out in the top of the eighth, Joe Seelye had a chance to do some damage. Sudbury was trailing 4-1, but had runners on 2nd and 3rd. Seelye came to the plate against Ryan Podolsky, and hit a sacrifice fly. But it was not enough to complete a Sudbury comeback.
The Super Volcano go to 38-57 with the win.
