Pizzas Deal Dublin 4-3 Defeat
|
The Detroit Pizzas reigned over the Dublin Porters in damp conditions.
The Detroit Pizzas faced a tough opponent in Dublin pitcher Karl Gordam, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Porters Ballpark by a final score of 4-3. Gordam went 7.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. Ed Pike picked up the win with 5.1 innings of work. He allowed 1 run on 5 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 7. On the season, he is now 8-4. The save was credited to George Liston, his 16th.
Detroit used a clutch at-bat from Jay Naylor to capture the win. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Pizzas ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"I like seeing our guys get a return on what they've put in," said Detroit manager Evan Compton.
The losing skid has reached 7 games for Dublin.
