The Memphis Chicks had to overcome a fine effort from Kyiv pitcher Zachery DeShields to win, 3-2, at Kyiv Grounds. DeShields went 7.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. Bob Currell was the winner in relief. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was Zachery DeShields. By defeating Kyiv, the third-place Chicks improved to 40-49.
Juan Redondo, who is tied for 10th in the FL in triples with 2, helped out the Memphis cause in the top of the seventh inning with a run-scoring double. For the game, the first baseman went 1 for 4 with a double.
Redondo attributed the win to "an all-around good team performance."
