The Detroit Pizzas earned a win at Pizzas Ballpark, knocking off the Los Angeles Kings, 6-3. On the bump for Detroit was right-hander Chikara Nakamoto. He had a starring role in the triumph. Josh Johnson earned the save, his 24th in 26 tries. The Pizzas lead the Alliance League Boneheads Division by 6½ games.

Zack Hauger had a big 2-run double for the Pizzas in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Detroit leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Jon Avery, who is tied for 6th in the AL in complete games with 1, and swatted a double to right. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Pizzas ahead, 4-1.

"Chikara pitched his heart out," said Detroit manager Evan Compton.
