Despite a fine performance by right fielder Matt McCauley, the East Haddam Hyenas lost to the Arizona Desert Storm, 6-3. McCauley was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winner in relief was Evan King. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. He now owns a record of 3-3. The Hyenas, at 38-49, have lost 4 straight games.
Joey Stephen came through with a big-time hit for Arizona. The pinch hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
