Cossacks Fall Short at Dublin, 4-3
|
Porters fans were treated to an exciting walk-off win.
The Kyiv Cossacks got a superb performance from pitcher Mark Powers, but the Dublin Porters still won the game, 4-3. Powers threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. The Federation League Knuckleheads Division-leading Porters have a record of 54-29.
Batting in the bottom of the ninth, 28-year old first baseman Peter Thompson had a real shot to win the game. Kyiv pitcher Evan King was determined not to let it happen. But with one out, Thompson hit a run-scoring single. The Porters had a walk-off triumph.
"I like what I saw today," said Dublin manager Jim DG, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
