Waikiki Upended by Dublin, 3-1

The Dublin Porters picked up a win at Porters Ballpark, knocking off the Waikiki Wayfinders, 3-1. Starting pitcher Ben Verville played a key role in the triumph. The winner was Verville. He threw 7.1 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Jon Flint. Zion Anthony notched his 20th save in 25 chances.
Jason Widel had a big solo home run for the Porters in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Dublin leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a changeup from Jon Flint, who finished 2nd in the FL in strikeouts with 283 in 2045, and punished it. The result was his 19th home run of the season, which put the Porters on top, 2-0.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Widel said.
Dublin is now 41-43, Waikiki 33-50.
