Hyenas Pull Out Late Win, 4-3
|
The Hyenas grabbed a win, 4-3, at Ballpark of East Haddam, overcoming a fine effort from Dublin pitcher Adam D'Amonte. D'Amonte went 7.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. John Motz finished the game for East Haddam and earned his 16th save. The slumping Porters have lost 7 straight.
The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Jack Rayner came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Dublin pitcher Satoharu Sato, he hit a first pitch sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting East Haddam on top, 4-3.
"We ground out the win," said Rayner. "That's all that matters."
