Sugar Kings Send Los Angeles Home with 4-2 Loss
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Havana Sugar Kings got the win.
Havana starter Zack Alvarez pitched well against the Los Angeles Kings at Sugardome II. The left-hander led his team to a win, 4-2. Alvarez picked up the win for Havana, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 5-8. John Charles earned his 2nd save in 5 chances.
The Sugar Kings got a big at-bat from left fielder Billy Olson. For the game, Olson went 1 for 3 with a double and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 21st double of the season gave Havana a 2-1 lead.
"Zack kept his poise and got the job done," said Havana manager The Baron. "He was outstanding."
The Sugar Kings improved their record to 46-36 by beating Los Angeles.
