Portland Downed, 4-3, by Knights
|
Starting pitcher Alex Smith pitched well enough to help the Brooklyn Knights beat the Portland Beavers, 4-3. Tanner Denny got the save, his 21st in 23 chances. Brooklyn now has a record of 49-35 with the win.
The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Josh Deere came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Portland pitcher Miguel Romero, he hit a 2-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Brooklyn on top, 4-3.
"Enjoyed this one," Smith told the Brooklyn Citizen. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
