The Portland Beavers had to overcome a fine effort from Kyiv pitcher Mark Powers to win, 6-5, at Beavers Park. Powers went 8 innings and allowed 3 runs. Portland reliever Chris King was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Bob Rendahl took the loss. The win puts Portland at 16-12.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the tenth for Portland. That's when Matt Lamons hit a 2-run double off 24-year old right-handed pitcher Bob Rendahl to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Lamons.
