Beavers Drop Close One Late
The Portland Beavers got a superb performance from pitcher Victor Velasco, but the Hanoi Dragon Warriors still won the game, 4-3. Velasco came in in relief and pitched to 24 batters. Hanoi pitcher Landon Paulick got the win, upping his record to 2-3. Rodolfo Merlos got the loss. The Beavers fall to 11-17 and continue their sputtering start to the 2051 season.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Hanoi catcher Jason Edkin, facing Rodolfo Merlos, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Dragon Warriors the 4-3 win.

Edkin attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."
