Alfred Belts Bunch of Base Hits
|
Even as a kid, Steve Alfred said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Skyhawks Ballpark, Alfred showed how well he learned that lesson.
The 26-year-old center fielder had 5 hits in 5 at-bats for the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, helping his team knock off the Flagstaff Skyhawks by a score of 7-6.
"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did."
Steve Alfred singled in the 9th, doubled in the 11th, singled in the 14th, singled in the 16th and singled in the 18th.
So far this season, Alfred has 1 home run and a .340 batting average.
