Rod Garcia impressed in the 11-1 Kyiv win over East Haddam. Garcia, who finished 5th in the FL in doubles with 53 last year, went 2 for 5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. The win leaves Kyiv with a record of 11-13.

Kyiv used a well-timed hit by Steve Buffington to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Cossacks ahead, 4-1. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"When you don't put the pitches where they're supposed to be, they hit you hard," said East Haddam skipper Joe Jankowski.
