Kings Lose By a Run at Buffalo
|
The Buffalo Buffalo picked up a win at The Greenhouse, downing the Los Angeles Kings, 4-3. On the mound for Buffalo was left-hander Qing-lai King, who played a pivotal role in the win. The winning pitcher was King, now 2-3. He tossed 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 8. Josh Pierce, who finished 2nd in the FL in wins with 17 in 2042, nailed down the save.
Tied up with the Kings in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Buffalo got a boost from left fielder Jacob Estes. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Estes saw a 1-0 fastball from Steve Wilkerson and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Buffalo on top, 2-1.
"Qing-lai pumped strikes and he made good pitches when he had to," said Buffalo manager Jim Punk42ae.
The loss makes the Kings 8-15.
