5 Straight Wins for Pizzas
|
The Detroit Pizzas grabbed a win, 6-3, over the Brooklyn Knights at Pizzas Ballpark. Detroit second baseman Bob Lucas went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. Jim Steeb, the winner, is now 4-1. He struck out 5 and walked 1 over 5.2 innings, while allowing 3 runs on 7 hits. Earning his 2nd save of the year was George Liston.
Chris Moller swatted a run-scoring double for Detroit in the bottom of the fifth. The designated hitter went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and batted in 2.
"We take it day by day here," said Lucas, "and today was a good one for us."
The Pizzas have hit the ground running, raising their record to 15-8. While it's still too soon to talk about Detroit hoisting their 3rd World Series trophy, fans are getting excited about their strong start.
