The East Haddam Hyenas defeated the Dublin Porters, 6-5, in Federation League action at Porters Ballpark. Jerrod Conners pulled his weight. The 8-year veteran went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Steve Ashcraft, the winner, improved to 2-2. He held the Porters to 2 runs on 3 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 4. Amari Smith notched his 1st save of the season.
In the first inning, Conners had a 2-run home run for East Haddam. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Hyenas on top, 2-0.
"Every time I go up there, I try and hit a ball hard," said Conners.
The win moves East Haddam to a record of 9-13.
