East Haddam Topples Buffalo, 3-2
|
Buffalo got a valiant performance from pitcher Joel Whitley, but it wasn't enough to beat the East Haddam Hyenas. East Haddam won the game, 3-2. Whitley threw 8.2 innings of 7-hit ball for the losing team. Justin Kennedy picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Joel Whitley suffered the loss. Chris Newell closed the game out for East Haddam, earning his 4th save.
East Haddam used a timely hit from Jack Rayner to get the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Hyenas ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"It feels good to get this one," Rayner told the East Haddam Daily.
Buffalo is 15-5 after the loss.
