It took 11 innings, but the Kyiv Cossacks were able to beat the East Haddam Hyenas, 8-7, at Ballpark of East Haddam. Sam Lucot provided some offensive muscle for Kyiv. He went 2-4 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Kyiv reliever Kurat Feyzioglu picked up the win to move to 2-1. Jesse Lutz suffered the loss. Matt Namie picked up the save, his 1st.

The contest featured some late-game dramatics from Kyiv right fielder Sam Lucot. In the top of the 11th inning, with no one out and a runner on 1st, Lucot got hit by a pitch to help Kyiv seize the win.

"The game is never over 'til it's over," said a jubilant Salvador Rubio, the Kyiv skipper.

With the loss, East Haddam sinks to 6-13.
