Big Day for Ruiz: Swats 5 Hits
		 |

After a 5-hit effort to lead Hartford's 11-8 victory over the Santa Clara Vanguard, catcher Ernesto Ruiz told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the CBD Double A-level is really something special."
The 22-year-old player earned his accolades at Defenders Ballpark with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Vanguard.
"His swing is getting there," said Defenders skipper Leon Quinonez Jr., who spoke glowingly of Ruiz after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Ernesto did that to perfection."
Ernesto Ruiz singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 7th.
So far in 2048 Ruiz is batting .300 with 1 home run, 13 RBIs and 11 runs scored. He has 21 hits in 70 at-bats and a .390 OBP.
