The Havana Sugar Kings overcame a good performance by Hanoi left fielder Danny Laines to knock off Hanoi, 8-5, at The Nest. Laines went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. Earning his 8th save of the year was Eric McKinney. Havana, now 11-5, has gotten their season off to a good start.

Andy Neufeld had a big solo home run for the Sugar Kings in the top of the third inning. With Havana leading 3-2 and the bases empty, he got a fastball from Nick Rennie, who finished 5th in the AL in innings pitched with 216.1 in 2046, and swatted a home run to left. It was his 2nd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Sugar Kings ahead, 4-2.

"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Neufeld. "You've got to get results."
