Yellowstone Tacks 5-3 Loss on Portland
|
The Yellowstone Super Volcano topped the Portland Beavers, 5-3, in Alliance League action at Volcano Ballpark. The game was highlighted by the performance of Yellowstone pitcher Art Madsen. Madsen, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 4 walks. Ryan Podolsky earned the save for Yellowstone, his 1st of the year.
The Super Volcano got a big at-bat from left fielder Bobby Blank. For the game, Blank went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Yellowstone a 5-3 lead.
Blank called the win "a team effort."
With the loss, Portland drops to 1-1.
