Gonzalez Shines, But Red Storm Fall Short
|
The Arizona Desert Storm withstood an impressive performance by Lansing first baseman Gregorio Gonzalez to defeat the Red Storm, 9-7, at Desert Storm Stadium. Gonzalez belted 3 home runs, while adding 6 RBI and scoring three times. Esteban Vega picked up the win in relief. Kane Tulk took the loss for Lansing. Josh Kern wrapped it up, recording his 5th save.
Had Su-yeong Lee not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Lee hit a 2-run single. That made the score 9-7, in favor of the Desert Storm.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Lee told the Arizona Observer.
The Red Storm fall to 4-9 and continue their sputtering start to the 2048 season.
