The Havana Sugar Kings converted a terrific effort from starter Nick Rennie into a win over the Yellowstone Super Volcano at Volcano Ballpark. The Sugar Kings won the game by a final score of 4-2. Rennie, the winner, moves to 1-1. He threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 9 and giving up 3 walks. Havana, now 5-8, is off to a slow start.
Havana used the timely hitting of Mike Hieronymus to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Sugar Kings on top, 4-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Hieronymus called the win a testament to his team's "grit."
