It's Over! University of Texas Defeats Georgia Tech University
Tuesday, January 25th, 2028
With a 9-4 win over the Georgia Tech University Yellow Jackets at UT Stadium today, the University of Texas Longhorns wrapped up their 2nd title in team history.
The Longhorns left little doubt who was the better team. Celebrating a banner year, "team" was the word of the day in the victorious clubhouse after the game.
"Hitting, pitching, fielding; those are all things you need to win, but most importantly you need a team, a team that works together toward the same collective goal," said University of Texas manager Wil Fenner. "Our players felt that way all year, and they played that way. When one guy had an off day, 24 others stepped up their game and filled the void."
A jovial mood filled the air as University of Texas celebrated into the night. The city's mayor said parade plans were underway and a "huge celebration" would be in order.
"I hope they have a big celebration," Georgia Tech University manager Matt Sansing said. "They deserved to win this series and they deserve to celebrate it."

It was the Georgia Tech University Yellow Jackets feeling the thrill of victory, with a 7-2 win over the Louisiana State University Tigers, who were feeling the devastation of coming up short in their quest to make the College World Series.
"There's no way around it -- this sucks," said Louisiana State University manager J.P. Martin. "Congratulations to Georgia Tech University, but I won't sugarcoat it, no one is happy about anything that transpired here tonight."
Instrumental in the 4-3 series win was center fielder Bryan Morgan, who was named MVP. He hit .433 with a .469 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 3 runs.
"We've got the most important stat of all and that's this final win -- that's the one that matters," he said.
The Georgia Tech University Yellow Jackets will play against the University of Texas Longhorns in the next round. University of Texas won their series against the University of California Los Angeles Bruins 4 games to 2. The College World Series schedule will be announced after the College Divisional Series finishes.
