Tualatin Gives the Old Heave-Ho to Manager Barton

When your team is not doing well, what does a general manager do? You can't fire the team or fire yourself, so you go to the next thing on the list -- fire the manager.
That's exactly what Tualatin Timberwolves GM Joe Unknown did today -- he fired manager Matt Barton.
In the press conference, the Timberwolves GM pulled out all the usual cliches about why change was needed. He also praised Barton in glowing terms and said he would remain a vital part of the Tualatin organization.
As far as firings go, this was a harmonious parting.

Titans Officially Fire Quintana as Skipper

Critics and second-guessers of Alex Quintana can rejoice -- his tenure in West Salem is over. He was fired as the Titans manager today.
According to one player, who requested anonymity, the decision was long overdue.
"I never really agreed with his decisions and I think he's cost us a lot of games with the way he manages," the player said. "I like Alex as a person, but as a manager I don't think he's the right person to run this baseball team."
When told of the anonymous comment, Quintana took the high road.
"I don't really need to get into a war of words with someone, I have no comment on that. Basically, the front office has made their decision and that's that. No discussion needed," he said.
